Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are composed of one or more batteries that store energy from various sources. Demonstrating a high-power output from an energy-dense small footprint Volvo Penta is developing a scalable and purpose built battery energy storage system. Intended for integration into BESS applications this high performance subsystem represents a further step forward in the Volvo Group journey to net-zero ambitions.
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) enhance power grid reliability, capacity, and resiliency through energy storage and delivery. From just one to as many units as required, Volvo Penta’s solution is modular and scalable up to hundreds of megawatts, and optimized to meet BESS business needs.
Packaged in a holistic, safe, and easy to integrate way, strengthened by a global service network, parts availability, and longer-term battery cell production, Volvo Penta is launching a high-performance subsystem based on the Volvo Group electromobility platform optimised for OEM BESS applications.
Pairing dedication and experience in OEM applications with our end users knowledge in power generation and grid operability Volvo Penta is able to expand into battery energy storage through collaborative partnership with OEMs
